IOQ Conference 2015 – Hamilton
This years Institute of Quarrying conference held in Hamilton was themed “Forging a path to the Future”
Earlier in the year Worksafe inspectors made their way around 26 sites in New Zealand assessing each on strict criteria for safe work environments. Websters Hydrated Lime Co was awarded the Winstone Aggregates Safety Award – this is the 26th year that this has been awarded.
“Our team is chuffed to have been awarded this prize which highlights that we are on the right path. WHL management looks at H & S as an investment for the future of the company, as it not only ensures our guys go home safe every night, it is also a great tool for encouraging communication around all facets of the operation”
This award can be attributed to several factors; primarily a great team who are proactive with our health and safety procedures. Our PHMP is a living document which changes regularly with new initiatives.
As a family company we have seen many changes to legislation in the last 69 years as it relates to the quarrying industry and are thrilled that we were recognised for our efforts. This really highlights to us that good H & S is not just a corporate endeavour, it is attainable for smaller companies.
